Ban deforestation unless it includes a 1:1 reforestation commitment

We lost 120,000 square kilometres of tropical forest in 2018 and we are losing more at a rate of 30 football fields per minute. This is mostly due increased cattle or agricultural production. Trees naturally capture and lock away carbon as they grow. When trees burn, the carbon that was stored for decades is immediately released back into the atmosphere. Tropical deforestation is now responsible for 11 per cent of the world’s CO2 emissions. If deforestation was a country it would be the third-largest emitter in the world after China and the US. This petition demands that deforestation be banned unless there it includes a 1:1 reforestation commitment.
